  • Some people suggest that you should scrape out the gills with a spoon as they will probably add an undesirable flavor to your dish.

  • @Sugarfix1980 You rinse the outside with running water and use a damp towel (you may dab a little white vinegar on the cloth for extra cleaning precautions) to wipe the gills clean.

  • Booo this vid is a crock because the gills go to mucky crap after washing them & its impossible to remove... you owe me 4 portobellos..

  • This seems to imply you don't wash the underside?? I'm wondering, because if you do, it's hard to dry it there, and you end up with a lot of water in the dish you're preparing. Any comment?
