you know what I hate? braden prefrered himself as a man,he even changed his name go do that and aslo had girlfriends.So, why the hell is his tombstone say TEENA R. BRANDON,DAUGHTER,SISTER when it should say BRANDON TEENA RAY,BROTHER,SON.WTF! he is a man!

@MegaJake12345678 Blame his mother. His mother couldn't accept how he identified himself. So she had his birthname, daughter, and sister put on the tombstone.

@cartergirl3of3 They other two who were killed were Phillip DeVine and Lisa Lambert were both killed in front of Lisa's toddler.

@Tornado1994 Brandon did know who he was. He didn't have to choose "what gender she/he wanted to be" as you put it in your poor choice of words. He was a male on the inside and wanted to express it on the outside. And stop with that "she/he" BS you post in your comments.That's almost as bad as calling a transgender person "it". He was born female yes but Brandon was a HE inside and wanted to express how he felt on the outside,and that's that!

@Tornado1994 Brandon Teena was not confused about who he was. And calling him by his birthname and "she" is insulting to his memory and calling any FTM by "she" for that matter. He preferred the use of male pronouns and going by Brandon. He felt inside like he was a man and wanted to project that on the outside, but he was born in the wrong body, he felt male. I suggest you look up the word transgender. There's also MTF male to female transgenders, and FTM female to male transgenders.

@bidderghost Not always a homeless person may steal to survive, a drug addict can get locked up for just that being a drug addict there is a lot of crimes that have nothing to do with hate at all.Did you know that you would get more time in jail for selling drugs than you get for killing someone or raping a child. Just think of how many sex offenders are walking free everyday in your very own town.

@rainbowpassion1973 Brandon was not a lesbian! He had a sexual identity crisis which is totally different. Lesbians are girls who like girls Brandon may have been born a female but he always knew he was suppose to be male so he didn't consider himself gay the very thought of being gay puzzled and confused him because he wasn't. however you are right it is a big deal for the G&L community because of the crime itself being a hate crime but not because he was gay.
