Dear friends, The i-ACT field team experiences one more hurdle as their flight to Goz Beida is cancelled due to the security situation in the region.
Watch the video to hear Suzanne Marie-Jones, Reporting Officer in Eastern Chad for UNHCR, discuss the refugees and her daily life in the camps. Instability and insecurity is a regular occurrence common for Eastern Chad. The field team will spend the night in Abeche before they can assess their next move. Even though it's frustrating for our team, the refugees are the ones most affected.
Action by all of us continues to be critical. The Refugee and IDP Camps, already hit hard by inaccessibility due the rainy reason, suffer even more from disruptions in aide as the UN staff is forced to withdraw until the security conditions settle.
Take part in today's action by telling your leaders why we must help. Take State-wide action by dialing 1-800 GENOCIDE and pressure your Senators and Representatives. We also need to continue reaching out and educating people locally: join the Tents of Hope campaign, now in 9 countries! Take long term action to prevent future genocide by becoming a GI Net Rapid Response Member.
Peace, Kathleen, Katie-Jay's mother, for the i-ACT team
