One of the things that some morons put into comments on YouTube is that people who do screencasts of their drawings are "faking". I'm not sure if this is motivated by petty jealousy or genuine disbelief, but it's always been quite a curious accusation.

So I attempted to see if it was actually possible to do so. I took a photograph, smudged it, painted it, scribbled and then time reversed the whole thing.

Does it work?

Sort of, but mostly not. Firstly, you definitely need to know digital painting techniques to do it and secondly, doing the details in reverse is almost impossible - and would require quite a bit of time and skill to execute properly, certainly far more than this 10-15 minute jaunt here. Like the moon landings, once you've put in the time, skill and effort required to fake it, you may as well have done the real thing.
