Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers/Christian Debater (YouTube channel: CANSWERSTV, websites: BIBLEQUERY.ORG, HISTORYCART.COM & MUSLIMHOPE.COM) debates Steve McCalip, author & producer of "KingJamesVideoMan," on the subject of WHO did Jesus die for. Bob L. Ross, leading publisher of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (please check official website: PILGRIMPUBLICATIONS.COM), is the moderator. Educational backgrounds of debaters: Wessels- Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, completed extension course taught by Dr. J.I. Packer of Regent College, Vancouver, Canada, studied virtually every book or tape produced by Walter Martin of the Christian Research Institute & Dr. R.C. Sproul of Ligonier Ministries, worked with Pilgrim Publications (C.H. Spurgeon) since 1990, attended Dayspring Fellowship of Austin, Texas (Pastor Jackson Boyett, www.dayspringchapel.org) since 1982. McCalip- Bachelor's degree from Baylor University, 2 Master's Degrees in Education from the University of Houston. Theological background: Wessels- Classical Protestant Reformed Doctine, Affirms the Trinity (Father , Son & Holy Spirit), McCalip- Arminian Doctrine, Denial of the Trinity, Affirms King James Bible only. A popular book out is entitled "History's Greatest Lies;" although this book doesn't mention the following it should have: Darwin's Evolution Theory, Global Warming, Muhammad was a prophet of God, the only true "church" is headed by a Roman Pope, etc. Another "greatest lie" would be to say Jesus died for people He did not indeed die for. There are only 3 possibilities: 1. Christ died to save all men therefore all are saved 2. Christ died to save no one in particular (men then must save themselves) or 3. Christ died to save a certain number (who God then actively saves) from eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. This debate has been going on for centuries & in recent times has had more notoriety because of a book written by Dave Hunt of "The Berean Call" entitled, "What Love Is This?," which makes many of the same emotional Arminian arguments as Steve McCalip in this debate. Multnomah Publishers also produced a book entitled "Debating Calvinism" between Hunt & James R. White of Alpha & Omega Ministries. Ergun Caner of Islam fame has also taken issue with "The Five Points of Calvinism," namely: 1. Total Depravity, 2. Unconditional Election, 3. Limited Atonement, 4. Irresistible Grace, & 5. Perseverance of the Saints. The real question, ""Is God sovereign over man or is man's free will sovereign over God & His purposes?" Who is REALLY in control?

This is just a single episode of a 24 part (10 minute presentation) debate. To see this same 4 hour debate in 1 hour segments as it was originally recorded, copy & paste the following title into the YOUTUBE search box, "DID JESUS DIE FOR EVERYBODY WHO EVER LIVED OR NOT? DEBATE."

  • Quick ? Isn't biblical marriage an exclusive relationship? So if Christ/church is compared to groom/bride which it appears to be. Would'nt the reformed positon be accurate? That God/groom loves others(outside the marriage), but their is a special love that leads to exclusive behavior for his church/bride.

So if we know that marriage is an exclusive relationship, why would we have to add "only". Because we already know that biblical marriage is limited to those individuals within in it

  • @521talent Jesus is the bride groom of the church (Revelation 21:9 ff)! Thus your illustration of the union of Christ to His church is excellent for showing the SPECIAL LOVING relationship & the EXCLUSIVE relationship apart from all others. The reformed position is the accurate position of Scripture & is why Calvinists understand the "L" in TULIP to be LIMITED ATONEMENT meaning Christ's atonement is ONLY for those He LOVES because Proverbs 16:4 says the "wicked" were made for "evil" not Christ.

  • @Covey69 I didn't notice this question until now & decided to answer it so here goes (but you'll have to do a lot of research): 1) Watch our 2 hour video miniseries, "Debate with Angry & Hostile Atheists" & our 3 hour series "Examining the Religion of Atheism" which will establish that this universe must have a living God. 2) Since there can only be one God in the universe He has the power to give us a message thus the Bible stands alone among world religions by history, manuscripts & prophecy.

  • @CAnswersTV

Without the Sarcastic Questions as you perceived can you simply answer me this; How do I know which religion is correct?

    Very simple question..

If you tell me I will be one of the lost then how is it you know this and everyone else who would say you are wrong would say, they are right.

You understand the confusion, don't you?

How does anyone know which religion is right when they all say they are right.

How do I know, How do you know??

If you know, tell me plz.

  • @Covey69 If you understood your "whole" Bible instead of supposed "subtexts" then you wouldn't be asking sarcastic questions. I know it is difficult but try to imagine that God saved only 8 people out of the "whole" world during Noah's flood. Imagine that God only loved the Israelites out of the "whole" world during Moses' day (Deut. 7:6-8). Try to imagine that only 7001 were actually saved Israelites during Elijah's day (1 Kings 19:18), Not many will be saved Jesus said (Matthew 7:13-29).

  • I am so very glad and pleased to meet someone who has the logic of it all, figured out.

I've had a great deal of problems figuring it out.

The difficulty I have is when I sit down a speak to different religions, they all have it figured out; Differently.

    Weird eh?

How do I know you are right and they are wrong on all these different things and why cannot anyone agree with these texts.

I guess they should have contacted you first.

I read the whole; not the controlled subtext callings.

    Mark 4

  • @Covey69 Are you serious?! Why don't you just go ahead & let go of your preconceived ideas & simply follow logically what the Biblical text is clearly saying, is that too hard? Read Mark 4:10-12 again. Jesus says he speaks in parables so people will "not understand; lest at any time they should be converted & their sins should be forgiven them." He is intentionally using parables so people will not be forgiven of their sins, your theory doesn't work.

  • You don't think it's possible That Jesus was referring to the protection given speaking in Parables?

If he openly made statements about the evil in control then it would have brought a downfall upon all of them. So Parables might actually be for the purpose of speaking so his family understood the parables without fear of enemies knowing it was of them.

hid these things from the wise and prudent but revealed to those.

No Conceptions like people grown or growing; like a baby with eyes wide open.

  • Awesome Larry! God bless you.
