  • Indeed Christoff was a bass, and had an exceptional tonal quality. an incredible high register and very good low 'chest' notes. what is sometimes confusing is that he performed Boris Godunov which was originally written for a Bass-Baritone register...but was popularized by Schalyapin who was a bass, albeit a high ons, I think there is more of a case for Schalyapin to be the Bass-bari

listen to Christoffs recording of Prince Igor, he sings Khan Konchak that should remove any doubt lol

  • @BleachNaruTard It's highly unlikely that Christoff could be a bass-baritone imho. Listening to his tonal quality in performances of Le Veau d'Or, an aria of Attila, and particularly in The Song of the Volga Boatmen, he's definitely a low bass. Can't decide if it would be lyric or dramatic, though.

  • @Sedraen Is he really? I dunno, I found him through Tim Barsov, the Russian tenor. He called Christoff a baritone-bass, although I would call him a bass, personally.

  • @BleachNaruTard I was always under the impression that Christoff was a pure bass. Though he does have an excellent upper extension.

  • By far the smoothest bass-baritone I have ever heard.

Ah, Russians... opera, ballet... how do you make such perfect beauty?

  • @eugeniodimilano Вполне согласен

  • Я восхищаюсь этим замечательным басом. Воистину басы болгарские и русские! Христов поёт не связками а душой - это не всем доступно даже с блестящим голосом...

  • What a great man!
