Sorry but this duet is awful : fortunately, we have now on youtube others excerpts from this rendition which show a better Caballé with great moments. But not here, not at all...

Even worse than this is the poor Simon Estes with problems in his voice and avoiding the best aria for baritono in this opera: qui donc commande quand'il aime ...and being substituted in the third and fourth acts.....
This opera (in fact a masterpiece)deserves a better group of singers, good scenarios and a wonderful ballet. If you can, try the "unformal" recording of Sherrill Milnes in English. Althouh its fair sound quality, this recording gives us an idea of its merits.

I am amazed that she was able to do this at 70! Impressive!!!

Simon rocks butttttttttt why didn't anyone tell Montserrat she couldn't do that. I would rather retire in good voice.
i think after all she´s done for opera we can all just listen to it as a gift from this great singer...70 yo and still doing better than some half her age

I find you all very cruel to Caballé. I'd rather hear her at 70 or 80 than most of her colleagues at 20. Remember what Verdi said of one singer? "He has no voice left but he's the only one who can bring my character to life".
