The Officers and Men of 45 Commando Royal Marines proudly parade through the streets of Arbroath on 22nd May 2009 following their return from a tour of duty in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

My father served with 45 Comando from 1944 to 1945 when he was posted to another Commando in the Far East) - he is 85 now and it remains one of the things in his life of which he is most proud. He says 'once a marine, always a marine' - and from what I know that is very true.

I remember when my local infantry battalion (2nd Royal Anglian) paraded through my hometown a couple of years ago, it was an amazing atmosphere, thousands turned up to welcome our lads home from A'stan!!
