Prodigal Daughter

directors notes: The shoot began with the objective of filming a choreographed dance in a with some Kamloops dancers in studio, and grew from that into much more.

I wanted to shoot this video on Hastings Street in Vancouver to capture the feeling of the true prodigals. I think when we got there we realized that there was something more important than "filming" the dance.. it was the act in itself that became significant... and took on a more prophetic meaning for the whole project. The dance became a visual prayer for those that walking on those streets and lived in that area.



While shooting one of the dance sequences an old fellow appeared to drop dead right on his face in the middle of the shot. I handed the camera off and ran to the guy. When I looked at his eyes and couldnt see him breathing, I thought for sure he was dead. Heather and I prayed for him and after a while he revived out of an unconsious state and told us his story. He thought it was his last day on the planet and when he fell he thought he would be taken away in an ambulance. Thank God he was OK. One of our crew was able to help him to his home and pray with him about the problems he was having. I decided to leave the scene in the video. I will never forget that day.

why is it called "prodigal daughter"

There is a story in the bible called " The Prodigal Son " about a young man who leaves his fathers and messes up his life but feels really ashamed and thinks his father will reject him. When he returns he finds his father loves him more than even. This is the same story only told about a daughter who runs away from home.

Can anyone direct me to a high quality version of the audio to this video? I want THIS version, so far all I can find are "full band/studio" or "acoustic" versions. Somehow this is the one that musically sounds "right" to me. Can anyone help me out here?

Agreed! God doesnt make trash, though sadly some people grow up in life being told that's all they are..but God in His infinite wisdom makes nothing but the best..what we choose to do with what He's given is our choice...hopefully we choose wisely.
