From my grandparents' home movies. We see: Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Las Vegas, redwoods, car driving through a fallen redwood, deer, General Grant tree, cars driving through a redwood, Yosemite Falls and Valley from afar! (gorgeous), San Francisco Bay and city, a bridge, Alcatraz, city of SF, Lombard St, mountains, lake, another dam (=?), on boat, Canadian Rockies: 5:00 min = Lake Louise with Mt Victoria and Victoria Glacier at the far end, elk w/ antlers,
5:17 is Peyto Lake from the observation viewpoint on Mt Jimmy Simpson. (Peyto and Simpson were both fur trappers who lived there during the pioneer days before it became a park.) 5:29 = Peyto Glacier at the head of the lake. It has pulled back about 50% since 1955. 5:35 = probably the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park, just up Highway 93 from Peyto Lake, Logan Pass (Continental Divide), waterfalls, Old Faithful (Yellowstone national park, WY), lodde and geysers, bear and cub, Crazy Horse national monument?, Mt Rushmore

  • Cool, imagine how many old home movies like this there must be, all over the world. Many of our old highways and roadside attractions of yesteryear are gone, and even in a span of just 50 years cityscapes and even our national parks can be dramatically different visually. I hope as time allows you will post more of your grandparents home movies if they exist so that they too may be enjoyed by others.

  • Thanks for the kind words but I think I have posted all the home movies I can. The rest are too personal. Hopefully others will post theirs...

    Cheers,

    John L

  • this is extrordinary. C'est d'une beauté à faire frémir. C'est aussi un document historique (historical piece).

Wow!!! do you have some more from that time ?

  • Translated by Babelfish...

  • Very cool! Thanks for posting! BTW what were they driving on this trip?

  • lol, sore loser... why are you bringing up old stuff anyway? You are why 12 year olds need to be monitored on the internet. Stop spreading your pathetic hate-monger rhetoric. I hope you study hard in school and do well so you can look back at this and see what a pathetic crybaby lazy-ass jerk you are.

"This Land Is Your Land is a good choice."

I think NOT!! read my msg to dustincarlton

and IF your G parents were decent and had any sense of FAIRNESS; they would NOT use that song!

    Take that in consideration.

"Maybe you could post another version with Woody singing "This Land is Your Land" :)"

    Eat Shit Asshole!

This Land is NOT your land.

it is STOLEN by MURDER and GENOCIDE, PLUNDER etc. etc.

it is ALL the LAND of **NATIVE** People.

White PEOPLE are CRIMINALS INVADERS and the only real ILLEGAL ALIENS here.

  • Very cool footage. Thanks for posting this.
