If their first reaction is a smile or laugh: ESFP

If they seem uncomfortable or offended: ESFJ

You are scary with how well you define the subtle distinctions between these two types! I have friends that are each type and yes, you were right on the money. I've recently become aware of the NT, NF, SP, SJ sub-types. My ESFP friend closes down when she is upset, it's true. When she's happy she'll break into random dances with a huge smile on her face. My ESFJ friend - VERY traditional, doesn't like anything she deems as "weird" or inappropriate, which the ESFP finds hilarious and fun.
