Indeed, it's a very common mute technique used for tapped rapid fire arpeggios - especially since Satriani started doing it (ex. Flying in a blue Dream). Vai does it too. So no it certainly isn't just "holding the neck"
Btw, great playing Brev, too bad the camera mic was so crappy.
Is that specific Excalibur for sale somewhere? I totally love the wavy grain!

Holding the neck?? The neck is not being held. It's a technique where the strings are dampened with the right hand while the left hand plays legato without a picking hand thus achieving the violin like tone you hear.

he could have just muted it normally with his hand at the bridge, wel at least i manage to.
And his hand is round the neck, so yes the neck IS being held
