It's difficult for theists to understand what atheism is about, because their basic assumptions get in the way.
That's why they have a hard time even defining what atheism is, why they're easily led into thinking it is dangerous (or conversely why there are 'really' no atheists at all!), and why they believe their fallacious arguments refute atheism.
