This is a video of my server rack.

Rack - Black Box Company
3 120MM 110volt fans
1 Shelf
1 Keyboard/mouse tray
Removable sides and doors, with adjustable rails inside.

Modem: Motorola SB6120 Cable Modem with 22/5 Business Service from Comcast. 4 downstream channels, 1 upstream channel. Gigabit link to PFSense machine.

Switch: Netgear JGS524 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit unmanaged switch.

Console: 15" Toshiba LCD monitor, Logitech PS/2 Keyboard, Generic PS/2 Mouse. Zonet 4-Port KVM connected to all 3 machines.

Left- Main Server: Runs Windows 2008 SP2.
-Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHz
-2GB PC2-6400 (DDR2-800)
-250GB OS Drive
-400GB Temp storage drive
-5x1TB Drives in RAID5 giving me 3.63TB of redundant storage space, controlled by a hardware RAID controller card.
-Gigabit Link to the switch.
-Runs uTorrent, SABnzdB, Filezilla Secure FTP server, network storage, PeerGuardian, Apache HTTP server w/ PHP & MySQL.

Middle - Gaming Server
Windows Server 2003 standard edition
74GB 10kRPM Raptor HDD
2GB PC2-6400 (DDR2-800)
Gigabit Link to the Switch
Runs 4 32 player TeamFortress 2 servers

Right - Firewall Machine
PFSense based on FreeBSD
Intel Pentium 4 @ 1.3Ghz
Gateway Motherboard (Intel based)
384MB RDRAM
20GB HDD
2x Linksys EG1032 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Cards

Linksys WRT54G
Runs Tomato Firmware
70mW wireless power output into 2 9dBi antenna
No routing done, only wireless access. All internet access is done through the PFSense gateway machine. Locked down with WPA2-AES, 20+ digit security code, Hidden unique SSID, MAC filtering, and the PFSense DHCP will not assign an unknown MAC address an IP address.

APC UPS 1500VA
Current usage: 290watts/hour, total capacity 865watts/hour
EVERYTHING in the rack is plugged into the main power strip, which is plugged into the UPS Battery/Surge protection.
25 Minutes of operating time on battery.

  • Nice setup but with all that expensive tech, I'm sure you could've afforded a flashlight so we could see. lol

  • @darkdestroyer32 Yea, at the time the view finder was showing the video as being more bright. Next update I do will involve LOTS more light. ;)

  • Nice, does the firewall with two gigabit interfaces and pfsense introduce much packet transfer delay compared with a firewall security appliance (sonicwall or PIX ?)

  • @sean0101a Almost no delay is added. About 2-3ms tops.

  • Is there a noticeable difference in temperture inside of the container since it has a cooling system? Nice deal btw.

  • @NayokeHenji No, the fans in the top of the rack keep it at room temp. Without the fans it does get a little warm in there though.

  • why all this for something one good 1u or 2 u server can do? I'd sell all that and get 1 nice setup no bigger than 2u.

    Then get, or download window 7 or even better download window server 2008 r2 and use window 7 loader. :) and convert to workstation faster then window 7 but like it or not it is still window 7 on drugs. :)

    AHHHHHHAHAHA stfu that is the funniest stuff. But hey a 12 year old server would be great for ftp and as webserver. :) Even hosting quake servers. :)

  • These are nothing compared to my awesome 12 year old server!It has a 466MHZ cpu and 384 mb of RAM with a 6GB hard drive.Mine is way better.
