There are a number of vacancies on the Education Policy Board, because no one wanted to run for seats in the various districts, and while the Election Commission addresses the legal issues regarding the GEPB, the governors office has begun reviewing the list of potential nominees for the vacancies on the board.
The governor's Senior Adviser on Education, Thelma Hechanova says they have received over a dozen names, and that includes 4 people for the Luchan district...3 people for the Kattan district, and 2 for the Haya district. 5 other names were also submitted as potential board members.
Hechanova says none of the names are being released now, since the GEC must still address legal issues, but she assures some of the names submitted are of reputable people from the community.
Once the applications and resumes have been reviewed, Hechanova says a list will be submitted to the governor for his final approval. There are in all, 4 vacancies to fill on the Guam Education Policy Board.
