H2onews participated in the first-ever award ceremony held in honor of the best students of the Communications department of the Pontifical Gregorian University.The ceremony was held in light of the occasion of World Communications Day. The Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Communications of the Pontifical University in Rome wanted to distribute the prizes to show appreciation for their top students.The Centre asked the biggest organizations in the Catholic media to give out the awards to the students. The prizes were awarded in order to encourage the students in their studies and to motivate them to be successful professionals.The Vatican Radio, Zenit internet news agency, and La Croix, a French daily newspaper, all participated in the event. They represented the most experienced in the fields of radio, internet, and newspaper.The winners at this award ceremony were Ioan Boer of Romania, Arcadius Sawadogo of Burkina Faso, Aji Georges from India, Andriy Kozlov of the Ukraine, and the French Stéphane Jourdain. Andrea Scorzoni, the co-founder of H2onews, handed out the prizes to the winners of the video and multimedia categories. Silvia Costantini and Jesús Colina, likewise co-founders of H2onews, also attended the award ceremony.There was mass held as well before the award ceremony. The mass was celebrated by Monsignor Paul Tighe, Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. He prayed during the mass that the Church would make good use of the media and the new technology available today.
