New Orleans' "iconoclast" (that's what Offbeat said) singer-songwriter teams up with Thibodeaux's swampgrass quartet on a delicate ballad penned by Ludwig and Anders Osborne, with special guest appearances by Bart Ramsey on accordion and Theresa Andersson on backing vocals; a gem.
The first track released from the album "Elevation 13." Cut in a cypress beadboard house in Thibodeaux, Louisiana, this tender ballad shows off both the Moss Picers' playing and the strength of Ludwig's collaboration with New Orleans songwriter and guitarist Anders Osborne. With Matt Sylvest on bass, Billy Finney and Brent "Moon" Melancon on guitars and Pat Sylvest on dobro, laced through with Ramsey's accordion, the track is a solid, homespun platform for the delicate lyric. Andersson's pure, vulnerable backing vocals add the final, heart-busting touch.
Proceeds from sales of downloads will fund mastering and pressing of the album.
