@TheBluv12 Yeah, it is really hard to compete with his (Butz) interperetation, the cast recording still gives me chills. He did a very nice job of putting the song in a more natural and conversational context. Not to mention the deeper timbre of his voice darkens the high notes to mix with the female harmony.

@sk8xandxdie87 You're right. I guess i didn't mean the rhythm and melody, the accompanist is great. When I listen to the original cast recording, i feel like norbert leo butz sings his part with a couple rests in there. I don't know what the music looks like, but stylistically it sounds like recitatives, whereas this male vocalists comes right in. Not a bad delivery, just different than the Butz version, that i am used to and prefer.

@TheBluv12 quick comment on that, I'm doing the song now and his rhythm was spot on the written music for the most part, most I've seen so far change note values from whats written. The accompaniast Kevin is a stickler for rhythms as written.

this is very advanced for younger actors and I really think its loses a lot done by those who can't really relate to what these 2 people are going through-musical theater is more acting than singing-of course sing well but if you dont believe it no one will

the guy needs to get a hold of his femininity, otherwise he will never ever make it in theater....he is WAY too effeminate on stage....your not doing your job as an actor when everyone can tell your a gay man trying to sing a straight man's song....

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG! Ever since I performed it in high school, I've always had a soft spot for this song.
