The wild and rugged shores of northern Lake Superior have a captivating presence that cannot be denied. For those who have traveled upon her, Superiors stunning beauty and immense power is very well known. In the summer of 2008 three Lakehead University students in the Lake Superior Research Group (LSRG): Aaron Nicholson, Jessica Johnson, and Zack Kruzins embarked upon a 50-day sea kayak expedition within the newly announced National Marine Conservation Area. While studying everything from campsites to water trails, risk management, arctic disjunct plants, lichen, terraced beaches and more, the three were treated with many of Superiors gifts. This film, a reflection of their expedition, was created as a tribute to the stunning beauty and power of Lake Superior.

  • How did you guys like the Delta Kayaks? I've been thinking about getting one. Did you like the expedition model, or was it too big?

  • I really liked the delta 18.5 expeditition kayaks, they were perfect for our long trip on Superior. I found them nice and maneuverable for their length, tons of storage space. However, the expedition model was a little bit big cock-pit wise. I might consider the expedition 18.5 sport style as it has less cockpit depth and for a small sized paddlers the fit could be a little bit more snug. In general delta kayaks are solid and i'd highly recommend contacting them to find out more.

  • wow where did you get your diapers? Just sayin' the people who own property there call kayakers sea lice for the mess they leave.

  • very cool video, congrats on completing a challenge like that

  • WOOOOAHHHHHHHHHH

    (3:20)!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet.

  • Very nice film. Brings back to my mind my times on The Big Lake. In the mid 80's I was part of canoe trips on rivers flowing into Superior-the White, Sand, Dog & Montreal and in the early '90s I solo canoed (Open Cedar canvas!) the Pukaskwa Coast 2 times and hiked the Coastal Trail there. Those experiences will always be vivid in my mind, Superior gets into you and stays-for which I am eternally grateful. Superior is a teacher. Thank you for producing & posting this. Good Luck.
