UN-Arab League peace envoy meets with Assad

The escalating violence in Syria was discussed in a quick visit to the capital by UN-Arab League Envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi.

He met President Bashar al-Assad, but the outcome of those talks is unclear.

IMHO Assad should step down because he is "tainted" since before the civil war because of the secret police and civil right abuses. Also the lack of free and independent media contributed to the development of the civil war because the population relied on western, biased media and rumors.

Also Assad should take the responsibility for his part in the war.

BTW is there anywhere where one can find reliable or even verifiable documentation of foreign / US involvement in the start of the civil war?
