  • It is believed by others that Michal was childless because of direct decision of the Lord or David excluded her from marital relations. Deal with the context of what has been written. What has David and Michal have to do with Joseph and Mary who had children and a family. All you have to do is read the context in the light of other scriptures. Jesus was the firstborn of Joseph and Mary. Marriage is an honorable thing as well as having children. Jesus was called a firstborn child.

  • @tacikcim like I said, the term brothers and sisters of Jesus do not mean brothers and sisters as we know it today.... Lot, for example, is called Abraham’s "brother" (Gen. 14:14), even though, being the son of Haran, Abraham’s brother (Gen. 11:26–28), he was actually Abraham’s nephew....

Thus, we believe Mary remained a virgin....

  • Matthew is talking about a whole family. Two parents and their children. Are you trying to say that Mary had no children after Matthew 1:24,25 tells you that Joseph did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn which tells you she had other children and Joseph had sex with her. That is why people get married or at least one of the reasons and it should be. I don't understand the point when scripture tells us that Peter was married. A bishop should be the husband on one wife.

  • @tacikcim Consider this line: "Michal the daughter of Saul had no children till the day of her death" (2 Sam. 6:23). Are we to assume she had children after her death? You are reading the bible with todays language....

  • If you look at the New Testament epistles there is no mention of Mary as I said before. Matthew 13:52-57 tells us that Jesus had brothers and sisters. Mary was their mother and Joseph their father. The context of those verses show us that they were a family. James, the writer of the Epistle of James, was a brother to Jesus. Mary was an obedient servant as well as her husband Joseph. There has only been One born outside the slave market of sin and that was Jesus. He delivered His people from

  • @tacikcim the term brothers and sisters is different from one language to another. Even the first Christians talked of Mary as "virgin". Brothers in one language means the same as cousins, ect...in our language. Lot, for example, is called Abraham’s "brother" (Gen. 14:14), even though, being the son of Haran, Abraham’s brother (Gen. 11:26–28), he was actually Abraham’s nephew....

  • Mary was a wonderful mother and a great wife but after Acts chapter 1 there is no mention of her in scripture. I would say that Joseph may not have been around at the time of the events of the crucifixion and resurrection. We don't know because scripture is silent. Joseph was also a godly, righteous man. They fit into God's plan. I do not agree with you but we could go on forever. We just see things differently. Protestants and Catholics disagree on this issue and let scripture speak.

  • stevesylvia - Thank you again. Mary was the mother of his humanity. Matthew 1:24, 25 tells us that Joseph did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. Joseph knew her sexually after that as indicated by verse 24. Her perpetual virginity does not come out of scripture but was borrowed. Israel knew that one day the Redeemer would come and Mary knew that also that is why she would rejoice in God my Savior. To make Jesus her heavenly Son is a broad reach. It is idolatry.

  • @tacikcim I never said Mary was God.....Your opinions are welcome, but as I said, Mary never said she needed a redeemer. We do not give worship to Mary, that is reserved only for God. History tells us that the first Christians believed that Mary remained a virgin, and considered her to be their mother. That is based on the teachings of Jesus who told the Disciples "behold your mother..." We never said Salvation is in Mary, that is a lie taught to you by those who hate Catholics.

  • stevesylvia Thank you for addressing my comment. We disagree. Mary isn't God. Isaiah 44:6. She was not blessed above women but among women. Isa.44:6. After Acts chapter 1, Mary is not mentioned in scripture. She needed redemption as she was born into this world just like you and I. The only one born without sin was the Lord Jesus. Nowhere in scripture is she given worship. The apostles and prophets all testified in scripture that life and salvation were in Him and Him alone. Hebrews 1
