I'm used to it now, but the CBC ID back then used to give me chills when I was little (much like the Screen Gems "S from Hell" did other folks), so I know what you mean.
I grew up near Syracuse and Oswego, NY and used to watch CBC out of Kingston, Ontario as a kid on CKWS. I always liked this "exploding pizza". Just something about it.
I live in Upstate NY and about 80 mins south of the Candaian Border and I'm surprise with me living close to Canada. That my cable provider dosen't carry CBC. But yet we have Univision and BBC? That makes no sense.
It looks like they used a kaleidoscope-like setup to create this (a series of mirrors).
I find the music relaxing.

I would like to know how they made this animation. That would be cool!

My recollection is that the logo debuted in 1975, during the CBC's coverage of the Federal NDP leadership convention in Winnipeg.

So many memories. So many advancements in television. I'd give it all for another chance to live these days even if I didn't get any younger.

One of the BEST logos ever.
