My current strategy.

I'm planning out a speed run of .hack//G.U. Vol.2//Reminisce, and a minor part of it involved careful study of each of the 2nd form avatar battles. I'm still looking for improvements I could make that wouldn't have to do with pure luck (i.e. if it doesn't use this attack you gain a few seconds...), so comment if you know something. I left in the drain cutscene at the end of battle just because I wanted to.

Helen may be rather simple to beat with some bad hit detection to boot (bad for it mostly, though my Data Drain sometimes passes right through it...), but what can really slow this battle down is its Kobold Bullet/Lisp Tackle combo. It's hard to go on offense against it, though it's so difficult to keep attacking through it you may just as well dash out of the way and defend yourself. I always attack on the off-chance Lisp Tackle doesn't strike immediately, so I can do damage and get rid of the bullets. Lisp Tackle will hit, but better the tackle than the bullets.

Although this is my fastest time to date against Helen, it is possible to employ a 6-hit scythe combo against it (and it's the only time in Reminisce you get to use it). Strike twice, let the combo reset, then launch the full combo. The fifth hit only works because Helen's so huge to begin with; against anyone else, not only does the fifth hit miss, but the targeting for the sixth hit is off a little. Enemies like Innis may never see the Chakram from a six-hit attack.

  • i was able to do the six hit combo on almost evrie one of the avatar batles you just have to time it rigt

  • So you can get all six hits to connect the majority of the time? If that's the case, could you be more descriptive? Who have you failed against? (I'd assume Innis would be one of the exceptions because of the Chakram issue)

  • yea its almost imposible to conect a six hit combo on innis i have conected the six hit combo onli a few times

  • Still though, if it's just a timing issue, I could revise a few battles for YouTube like Oswald, Corbenik in both forms, maybe Victorian if I had an idea on how to resolve this. Usually I just mash X during the first hit, let it go on the second, and when Skeith resets mash X all the way through to the Chakram. This works with Helen and Fidchell, but I miss the fifth hit on everyone else, making it useless. Any tips you have before I seek this improvement out on my own would be appreciated.

  • It's possible to pull off a 9 Hit Combo on Helen and a full 7 Hit on the Storyline versions of Victorian and Grunwald. Heck, with Helen, after you get through some of her attacks, all you need to do is just Dash Cancel attack her to death. No interruptions, unless you make a small mistake, and just wiping off nearly the entire bar after a while of slashing. It's boring though.

  • dont smash x, i plan the combo before i do it so i never smash butons, and if you dont smash the scuare buton and time it rigt you can shot 0.53 seconds faster
