December 7, 2009: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has got the GOP up in arms with these controversial comments on health reform. He says the GOP's opposition to passing the bill is comparable to those in the past who opposed an end to slavery and women's suffrage.

  • He did not change his ways at all, he felt no remorse. You make a straw man arguement. Look at the congressional districts map. You will see a ton of blue in the "racist" south as you call it. Plus. Did you know the one who proposed to set up the confederate flag in South Carolina was a democrat.

    I win, you lose.

  • I know who Robert Byrd WAS. Unlike many modern-day "conservatives", HE changed his racist ways.

Nixon's "Southern Strategy" has been the GOP playbook since the 60s - Nixon, Reagan, Bush/Cheney/Rove.

Well, it has finally come to its logical conclusion. The modern Republican Party is now essentially the Old South (The Confederacy) and a few sparsely populated areas out west.

    You reap what you sow.

  • look at a cong district map. You will see a lot of blue in your "racist" southern states. I want you to look up a guy named roert byrd.

  • "Your in idiot." (LOL)

Can you read what I said?

Democrats - More FOR "votes" (as they had greater numbers)

(Republicans - Higher "%" voting FOR)

It was about REGION (North/South) more than party.

The Dixiecrats are today's Southern Republicans!

  • Your in idiot. It was democrat controlled congress. More Republican proportionately voted for civil rights than Democrats. And I want you to look at a map of the congressional districts and tell me which are the racist south states because I saw a ton of blue on there. LBJ was a racist too he signed it so blacks would dem. He said: "I'll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years."

    you fail

  • this is why so may americans are fed up....no faith in wall st., justice system, jounalist, and most of all politicians! very distressing time

  • The American TAX PAYERS are SLAVES to gov't!

I hope Reid gets run over by a reindeer!

  • How in God's name does this idiot keep getting elected?

  • ALL (yes, ALL) Southern Republicans (10 House and 1 Senate), like their "Dixiecrat" brethren, voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Sure, LBJ needed Republican votes to pass it, but MORE Democrats than Republicans voted FOR the Civil Rights Act (in BOTH the House AND the Senate). Look it up anywhere.

The South began to shift to "R". Nixon's "Southern Strategy" (1968 - 2008)

The "Party of Lincoln" quit being the "Party of Lincoln" a long, LONG time ago.

  • And you wonder why Harry Reid is failing.
