This clearly shows a resonating coil doesn't need a lot of power to keep it resonating, so long as you don't try to draw current deom the output. Great for HV effects.

ook... so just a ideaa.. i know it may sound crazy, but how about connecting some solar cells, and see if you can run it on the glow from the tube? And connect the solar cells to a big cap for easy electron dumping, since a battery may have high internal resistance..

So big 12V CAP instead of battery, solar cells for cap re-charge, and connect it all to RUN the resonating board..
