congratulations on that.the point is a weapon that is un loaded cant endanger anyone and only loaded when the need to fire arises means an accident cant happen.dont forget we are not in the marines in a hostile situation when there is a need to have a loaded weapon we are on a shoot day having fun. " All the pheasants ever bred wont repay for one man dead."

I am anxious to do some quail hunting out here in Arizona. The snakes are in the ground so time to buy a license. It will be the first time for my GSP for quail, as he is used to Pheasant hunting in Michigan. I found him pointing them just fine in my front yard. I think he will be fine.
Cheers!
Just wondering why the over and under's breech was open while hunting...that seems really weird... If its a safety issue that's going way overboard....id be scared to hunt w/u lol... How do you shoot birds that early flush like that?

I usually hunt with the over under and keep it open over my shoulder because its safer and easier to carry. With pointing dogs you usually have all the time in the world to get to the birds the dogs are pointing, close the gun and flush them. If the dogs are crowding the birds and they flush on their own, I usually don't shoot anyways. It encourages the dogs to crowd and flush the birds themselves.

Thanks for the video! Excellent choice of music as well. My husband has his heart set on a GSP and will probably get one very soon. Doing research on training, personality and health issues of this type of dog we will be adding to the family. She will have lots of hunting opportunities here in the Northwoods. Can hardly wait!!!!
