It will lose HP and TQ from removing that muffler, you need that tuned length, especially on that small of cylinders. And yea it sounds like someones puking into a sodacan. I had the same bike (an actual 01') and just chopped an Erion slip on in half and re riveted the butthole back on. tuned it with a PC and it sounded and performed great.
