When drumsticks hit simultaneously one or two drums is called a double stop. FLAM is when the drumsticks hit ALMOST simultaneously one or two drums. In order to achieve that one drumstick starts striking from higher position than the other.

I got a little lost watching this, had to play it a few times to see the flams happen alternatively at the sticks,. I was also looking to purchase an electronic set, but I like the idea of learning on that pad first before I take the plunge,.
