Department of Fire Protection Engineering, University of Maryland - College Park

This was a demonstration of a fire whirl for MD Day. It was produced by having four walls that are strategically built to force air to move in a circular pattern around the fire pan. Air is being supplied outside the enclosure and being sucked up through a vent in the top of the hood. The circular airflow and exhaust help spin the gasses in the fire to make the tornado. The fuel used was a pool of Heptane.
