A forty-strong team of ice sculptors from all over the world gathered in Zwolle, The netherlands, and worked all-out to turn 250,000 kilos of ice and 250,000 kilos of snow into the most amazing sculptures. It took them weeks, wielding chain saws, chisels, rasps and cutters to perfect everything down to the finest detail.
This year's theme is Nautical Sagas, Stories about the Sea. On display are sculptures of naval heroes, sea animals and ocean monsters, and pirate ships where visitors can pretend to be the helmsman.
The whole cold show is housed in a thermal tent measuring 2,000 square metres. The temperature is kept at a constant eight degrees below freezing, which is the ideal temperature for preserving the ice.
