Luke 16:19-31

Jesus tells a parable about heaven and hell. What does Jesus and the Bible say about what happens to every person upon death? Not naturalism, universalism, reincarnationism, annihilationism, or purgatory. The fate of every man and woman who has or will ever live is this: death, and then either heaven for blessing, or hell for suffering. Those alone are the options. Your eternal destiny is sealed upon your death. This life is your only opportunity. Hell is the wrath of God in effect. If you do not believe in and belong to Jesus, you are in the path of the wrath of God that ultimately culminates in the conscious, eternal torment of hell.

  • @ 13:55 what scripture says unbelievers will be given eternal life after the resurrection ?

  • @student507 "Eternal punishment" is comparable to "eternal life." The word means the same thing in both phrases.

  • Yeah exactly... So fear God cause not only can he destroy the body but also send you to hell.

  • @38sanzhura That's what Jesus said (Matthew 10:28).

  • I believe this is a parable to the Pharisees, but should not be taken too literally. I think Lazarus is named as a reference to Lazarus that Jesus RAISED from the dead. Abraham (Jesus in reality) said they have the Moses(torah) and the Prophets (Nevi'im) if they don't believe them neither will they believe even if someone (Lazarus) is RAISED from the dead. Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead and the pharisees (rich men) did still not believe in him (Jesus).

  • Thank you Mark ,my decision has been made and with the help of Jesus I hope to remain on his path.
