I want to talk about why, as a New Zealander, I'm so interested in American politics, and pay such close attention to it...however I got lazy for now so instead I decided to make a vid of me presenting my view on the recent 'outburst' by congressman Alan Grayson that postulated Republican's desire to see the people die slowly.

Now, I forgot to point out here that I don't think Republican congress-people want to see the people die, but I do agree that they want to do nothing in regards to healthcare, which will of course lead to people dying. But it isn't because Republican congress-folks WANT to see the people die, it is that they want the big cash money from the health insurance companies...people dying due to lack of coverage is no more than an unfortunate inconvenience along that way. The Republicans could care less whether one person is covered or whether 500 million people are covered, they just want the bling blings.

I didn't point that out so much in the video so I thought I'd include it here. As for the rest...watch the video to see my amazing, fantastical ramblings that were based on my impressions.

Please enjoy and I hope to do some more in the future.

  • I'm sorry man I'm not fooled by our government like everybody else is. Where do you think the stimulus bill all went? I will tell you to all the people who supported them for being elected. They were giving out false reports of jobs being created form the white house web site. And you say we Americans should trust our government? I don't think so

  • I am very skeptical on the stimulus. I'm not sure how much of that money actually created jobs that will have a positive long term impact. I'm really not sure about it, and I'm independent enough to say so. It is frustrating that only time will tell whether it had enough of a positive effect. Maybe it made things less painful?

As for trusting the government, it depends on who in the government, and on what. I'd trust those that have good intentions for healthcare, not shills.

  • I appreciate what you are saying, but I also think Grayson is taking exactly the right approach. Having a civil discussion with the right in America is impossible. The results to date are the Democrats are getting their asses handed to them because of the rhetoric and lies that are coming from the right.

  • Well Staticnz it is true and it is a fact, the words even came out of Pelosi's mouth her self. Make sure you keep an eye out in 2010 when Americans turn out to vote. In the state of Ma. you will be fined if you do not have health Insurance. Did you know that? CA. operates the same way

The government has it set up that way that if you do not pay the fine you will go to jail. And it is being reported that it can cost a family up to $15,000.00 a year for health care

  • Jew-on Williams? LOL!

  • Who the hell are you and what are you doing on the Interwebz?

  • Like I said, I have heard about it, but I'm entirely skeptical about it. All I know is that if they end up arresting people for not having healthcare, they should rightfully be prevented from doing so. I'm against that.

We basically agree about this, just you seem to think it will definitely, 100% happen.

If the healthcare is cheap and affordable (unlike how it is now), I'm more ok with fines. However, if it isn't affordable, I'm against any penalty.

    Affordability remains to be seen...

  • I kind of doubt they are really going to arrest people for not buying healthcare. If they do so there will be a massive outcry and they won't really get away with such a thing. It is kind of silly to say that's going to happen (I know you'll say read the bill, etcetera).

  • If they would of taken time out and learned from other nations that have health care, but they did not. They took it upon them selves to put a bill together which is bound to fail, and to arrest people for not buying it is taking our rights away to choose. I am sure the Amish will be forced also into buying health care taking their rights away. Land of the free. yeah right. A lot of Americans are mad and we will show up at the polls to let our voices be heard come 2010

  • It is going to cost over 50% anyways. The left wing talking point that doing nothing is worse...I'm afraid that it is actually true.

  • Do you really think our economy is from no health care reform or could it be from over spending through the years? They already tax us 32 % of our pay so how much more do you think it will cost us with reform? It will cost over 50% now. When will it end? Something else will come up that they will need to take more money from us.
