I worked on Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi Bollywood not too long ago.
This is a nightclub scene which finishes with a rhino-multipass motion control tracking shot used to replicate multiple copies of the lead actor dancing....Cheezy yes but lots of fun.
This was one of the first movies shot in HD for cinematic release in India. So untrusting in the format were the director and lead actors that they eventally walked off the set. For no apparent reason they decided that they were no longer interested in doing a film shot on a format best suited for, and i quote "Saturday morning cartoons".
Constantly teased about the fact that we were shooting in video. I eventually got agitated and blurted out to the lead actors...."have yah seen Star Wars!!?? George L ucas? guys? you know? Robert Rodriguez? Once apon a time In Mexico? This is the same camera and lenses....guys?
They all looked at me quizically with no idea what i was talking about. Anyway we did a rush ungraded transfer of 15-minutes of footage to 35mm and after much pleading convinced them to come to a cinema to view it. I could atually hear their jaws hit the ground when they saw how stunning the ungraded footage looked on the big screen. We started back on production the next day heheh.
