SPOILER ALERT! THE MOVIE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR "THE WITCHER 1"

The movie allows players that haven't had the chance to play the first Witcher to know what happened in it. The game creators stress that this knowledge is not necessary to play the game.

"The story of The Witcher 2 begins just after the events of the first part. But you don't have to know the previous events, because the sequel has a completely new story and sends the protagonist, Geralt, east of Wyzima (the main location of the first game). There the witcher will meet some old friends: Triss Merigold, the poet Dandelion, the dwarf Zoltan Chivay.

Those who played the first game will recall some of this cast. A few dialogs refer to the first game, but recognizing these references just gives a little more meaning. If The Witcher 2 is your first encounter with Geralt, you will smoothly enter the story.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on the 17th of April.

The story of TW2 is different, and you don't need to play 1st to get a hold of the story.Though it is a better experience, since you really get to know and like key characters, like Dandelion,Triss,Zoltan and Foltest for that matter in TW1. TW2 has much better voice over and combat, though unfortunately nothing beats the dialog and voice acting in Polish, so if you struggle with that, maybe you're better off skipping to TW2.Nothing will set you in the Witcher world like reading the books though..

I said fuck it and just watched this video. I don't even know what I just watched, way too many names. I think this video is more for people to refresh their memories of what happened in the first game and not so much for newcomers to learn the current story.

If you have the time for it I would play through witcher 1 first. I do not have the time for that so I am just skipping straight to 2 so I will be ready for witcher 3 which will hopefully come out this year.

Just stop your whining an play the damn game. Its worth it. If dub really bothers you, change it to Polish or something. As for combat, i didint have much problem with it.

I can't decide whether I should watch this or complete Witcher1. So far I am not impressed with the game (I am in the swamp area, after the first castle-map). There is something about the way people talk that ruins the "RPG" mood for me - they talk too contemporary as opposed to speaking the oldschool "british". And the controls of the game are clunky. Can anyone actually recommend going through Witcher1 before starting Witcher2? Or should I just say "fuck it" and watch this video?

the auto caption is just hilarious! "One in this e-mail account gave birth to a two come off, or mother trains in actions." <- my favourite phrase
