This is Larry Anthony's junior recital. I am a student at Albany State University and my recital was at Walden Chapel April 26, 2008. I opened with the first 2 Messiah classics! Comfort Ye and Ev'ry Valley; by Handel

  • You need to show gesture and more expression(especially singing Comfort Ye). The vocal placement is there just need to use hand gestures to convey to the audience and bring them into the song. I know you are connected to the song but now you must connect the audience. I believe that is the art of singing.

  • For this piece I try to do more facial gestures than anything. If you are familiar with the style of oratorio, you would know that it is not appropriate to use body gestures with this piece since it is from an oratorio. In dramatic oratorios such as Solomon (Handel) or Semele (Handel) hand gestures might be more appropriate. Just food for thought. Thanks for the positive feedback though.

  • Al principio se notan los nervios, pero a medida que iba tomando confianza se escuchaba mejor!!! En verdad me gusto su interpretación!

  • Lifeless.

  • Interesting interpretation of the "second" part of Comfort Ye. Usually the second part of this recit is given a little more life starting at "The voice of him that cryeth in the wilderness". It almost seems you slow it down at this point. My feeling is it needs to "lead" into Ev'ry Valley, it needs to "set it up" as it were, make the audience expect that something exciting is coming up. Again, personal interpretation. Nicely done for a Jr recital. It will only get better, good luck.

  • the trill at 2:03 rocked my kpanties.

  • Very nice voice. When you go for the top register it seems to fall too far back in the throat. If you work on bringing the resonance forward and that will place the sound and vowel placement in the correct place. Also more expression would be very nice on both pieces. GREAT JOB!

  • Really nice voice, great potential. "Comfort Ye" probably could have used a little less feeling like the point was to get through it quickly. Love to hear this voice in another ten years. (And of course you're right about hand gestures, etc., for oratorios.)

  • Beautiful Voice. Thank you for posting.
