Salif Keita!
Sabe el viento enamorado
abrazarse a una sola voz
cuando tus microtonos
desatan huracanes de luz.

well i think there is a blend geographically, not by religion or cultural influence. Mali shares border with Algeria so its more likely than not that u'll find some similarities in their music. ok, maybe i shld've said a blend btw Western Africa and Northern Africa. anyways, i think Mali music is unique and original, proudly African and i love them!

I do not think there is a blend between Mali music and Arabic. Just because people are Muslim there does not mean that their culture came from the Arabs. Their music is original just as those of many other Africans. Before the Arabs invaded Africa, the natives were already making music.

My love My love told me My love Said that… She doesn’t want love She said she wants marriage She wants marriage She doesn’t know what it is She doesn’t want love I told her I don’t want marriage If she doesn’t want love … … … … …

Who will help me? Who will help me? I went out last night In the moon light I went out To the river I thought of my love What did I hear? What did I hear? It’s making a lot of noise … The river is crying It’s making noise Fish are “jumping” in the river Who will help me? Who will help me? Childbearing women Women who bear children My mothers Forgive me My mother is a woman Forgive me Forgive me

This is just simply WONDERFUL. It's made me ponder and contemplate.
