  • Fast food is actually mentioned but not directly. But funny thing is most members of the church even the ones that claim to obey the Word of Wisdom don't exercise regularly and eat right. What's up with that? The Word of Wisdom does mention eating right and exercising, people.

  • Good point!

  • Did Joseph Smith and other early leaders follow the Word Of Wisdom ?

  • It became more binding with time.

  • joaoz what you mean is that they didn't follow it themselves. However that was to their detriment as I follow it and I can approve of it , especially no alcohol and tobacco.I'd like to see Macdonalds and kentucky fast food mentioned in an extension of the word of wisdom revelation as too many saints are dying prematurely.

  • I agree - they're pretty gross stuff.

  • Sister Carol Hughes, a Los Angeles Family History Library volunteer, assists a visitor.

  • The new complex is housed in the same building as the refurbished LDS visitors center located on Temple Hill just off the 405 Freeway, boasted by some, as the busiest freeway in America. It is the second major LDS family history resource to reflect the new emphasis on digital access and training spaces. (The first was in Riverton, Utah, opened in June 2010.)

  • @rumpwrestler spoken like an IGNORAMUS!

  • @ElderJoseph They are all just jokers.... so don't be fooled by this nonsense.

  • @omiolo Greatest bit on nonsense ever created. Amazing that any adults would believe this hocus pocus.

  • To Muslims, he is known as the Merciful, the Guardian, the Omniscient, the Magnificent. Christians, too, join in by praising God as the Judge, the Giver of Life and the Truth.

The Islamic tradition of knowing The 99 Most Beautiful Names of God struck a chord with Andrew Kosorok, an LDS artist who embarked on a years-long project to depict each of those 99 names in sculptural stained glass.

  • Knowing her nephew to be a reputable man, Knable grew interested in the faith and asked for copy of the "Book of Mormon."

"I read it and couldn't put it down," Knable said.

For her, the book is a record of people from the original tribes of Israel who made their way to the Americas. Here they were taught by Jesus after his crucifixion and resurrection. The scriptures, in plain language, are a record of how Jesus ministered on this continent.

  • The title of the book refers to the idea put forward in

antiquity that our souls begin with wings, and that only after

shedding those wings do we fall to earth. The book not only traces the

history of the idea of pre-existence, but also captures its meaning

for those who have embraced it. Givens describes how pre-existence has

been invoked to explain "the better angels of our nature," including

the human yearning for transcendence and the sublime.

  • PROVO — Turning 50 isn't normally a birthday to savor — unless you're a journal.

And then, thriving for five decades is something to be celebrated, which is what BYU Studies will do this weekend with a two-day anniversary symposium.

  • While Haiti seeks to build a new infrastructure, the Haitian Latter-day Saints have a personal foundation that is unwavering and firm. An infrastructure in their nation will follow the building of an internal infrastructure based on a sure foundation.
