Really awesome, thoughtful video. I can't understand America, how such a large amount of people can be so blinkered in their views. They are willing to make a stand against so call 'socialism' at the expense of providing for the poorer people, helping out those less well off than themselves. They cut their noses off to spite their face. It's sad and ignorant. And as ever, the shit rolls downhill, and those at the bottom suffer.
I'm glad I live in the UK.

I should also point out that the health care system in the United States is not free market. So to point at the U.S.'s health care industry (one with many problems) and to call it a failure of free market capitalism is farcical.

Socialized health care can work in other countries because they piggy back off of the U.S. taking the slack for research and developement. Pharmaceutical companies have no problems with selling to places with laws that keep drug prices down because they know Americans will pick up the tab to cover it and then some. Keep in mind, the average life-span of a person from the U.K. is longer, but the average life-span of a person with cancer is longer in the U.S.

HMOs approve doctors as well, so I don't really think that the doctors becoming unambitious is a valid argument. Most doctors I know got into it to help people anyway.
Also, looking at the Canadian system, a Harris-Decima scientific poll from July 5th says,
"By an overwhelming margin, Canadians prefer the Canadian health care system to the American one. Overall, 82% said they preferred the Canadian system, fully ten times the number who said the American system is superior (8%)."

Like I said this is what he said. I don't really like the idea of the government having control of health care. It seems like when they socialize it the doctors lose their ambishion becaue they're not competing anymore they don't have to be the best because people will come because they don't know how good or bad the doctor is. What's kind of funny is alot of the officals in Canada actually come to the us for their health care. They're enforcing a system they themselves do not use.

I'm from the UK and there, if you have a serious disease, you take priority and they will pay any amount to get you the care you need. If you have multiple health issues, they help you with your case. Socialized health care is far better than corporation owned health care.

I was talking to someone from canada who knows alot about health care in both countries and he said socialized health care is good for small things if you have a serious disease you could be waiting for treatment for a year If you need a MRI in the us you can get it in about 2 weeks but in canada it could take 6 months. If youre old and have multiple health issues youre basically screwed. Youre not allowed to know how good your doctor is. I used to be for health care reform but now I dont know.

Oh hello! Thanks.
That sounds like pretty solid advice. I'm really excited but it's a huge change.
