Video recorded in June of 2010.

This unit is of course, located at the beach. Salty air is a bit much for A/C units down at the beach.

The unit is a 2.5 ton Trane XR11 Heat Pump from 2002. Unit was in COOL mode.

  • If that is a gas dryer exhausting into the condenser, the hydrocarbons are also at work here. By-products from gas appliances are very corrosive.

  • @Jerrygenius1 Correct, but this is just due to salty corrosive environment. ANY unit does this in this environment. MOST, (NOT all) but most beach houses are all electric. The only way one would not be all electric is if it had on-site propane, which most of them don't have room for.

  • Damn we have a Keep Rite 3 Ton and it looks near new despite being from 2003.

  • @7477238 Is it about 100 feet from the Atlantic Ocean? This unit is.

  • @TheHvacdude101 Oh haha I didn't take that into consideration. I guess the cars don't do well there either?

  • @7477238 yup.

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!! That is Mr. rusty!!!!

  • theres a vid on youtube of Trane AC running after it was crushed by a brick wall.

  • @thefandude21 Yep. This unit came from 2002. Back when Trane made a descent product.

  • this where trane's motto you cannot stop a trane comes into play. that unit still works even though it is about to kick the can!
