Oscillation is a desireable action... if you're on a swing at the park. It's a nasty action at 75mph on a motorcycle, and shag nasty at 160. We spoke with Jason DiSalvo's 2009 AMA Crew Chief, Michael Tjon Sien Kie, about "head shake" and the steering stabilizers, or dampers used in keeping the two wheels of a motorcycle pointed in the same direction. Naturally our title sponsor, SportbikeWrench.com, has steering stabilizers for your motorcycle.

  • Is 'first' supposed to mean something! Did you learn anything?

  • You know something.... he still did not explain what a dampener does. I'm still lost. He would make a poor English professor.

Can some one please tell me what a dampener does to the front forks... please?

  • @Aonexia well know i havent really been searching for vids of the physics behind them, if i come across 1 i will notify u

  • @1DirtbikeBoy Thanks DirtBoy..... Do you know of any videos showing this mechanical composition in play? I think I need to see it in action and its physics to full get it. Thank you for the reply mate.

  • @Aonexia Well its not really the front forks, the damper acts as a clamp that attatches the handle bars to the gas tank, by doing this, it can regulate how hard u have to push or pull to move the handle bars, so if ur goin like 120 and u hit a nasty patch of road, the handle bars wont shake, in other words, it allows u to control the handle bars not the road surface, hope this helps.

  • @thrillseeker901 Here's the thing, you may have seen this, Someone, it seems has to mention that their first to comment on a video! That is what I responded to, now it must have been deleted, more response to them then the video, which I liked.
