Computer animated movie of a rotating four-dimensional hypersphere, perspectively projected into 3D as stereoscopic left and right images, to be viewed cross-eyed. Dots were scattered randomly on the surface of the 4D hypersphere. Animation was performed at Bell Labs in the mid 1960s.

  • Good video. And apparently accurate mathematically, since Bell Labs worked it out.

However, rather than crossing your eyes to get the 3-d effect, which is a strain, you

can just let your eyes relax and focus out to infinity, with the sight lines of both of

your eyes now parallel... (much more relaxed). Left eye focuses on the left image,

right eye on the right, and they'll merge in the middle! Works every time.

  • Tesseracts always scared the poop out of me. Geographical representations are one thing; practical application is another. If we are 3-dimensional beings, what would a sentient 4-D creature look like? Probably nightmare-inducing.

  • I CAN TASTE THE SUN!!!!!!!!!! holy crap! i don't think i've ever had motion sickness from a hologram before...

  • Hey it works.

It would be better if you had uploaded this clip w/o so much compression.

  • Nice way of seeing a 2D projection of a 4D object in 3D.

  • lol skasem1 got a minus and a plus for his ratings. Anyways this is the most accurate hypersphere i have seen. Although a bigger picture, more dots and more lighting would be appreciated great job anyways

  • more light please:)

  • The mid-1960s were shite!

  • Never mind what I just wrote. For the mid-1960s this is amazing. :-)

  • This could be cool if it was higher contrast and not so dark. Are you supposed to cross your eyes to see it in 3D?
