me singing a song that's been remade a million times.

can you spot hippo (for ten points)?

i haven't been back to my apartment in a few days, so this is my room back at home...

enjoy!!

i thought this would be appropriate, or really, important for this song:

hi everyone,

i just wanted to share some information with you all about burma and darfur. i think it's really important for everyone to take a few minutes out of our busy lives to look into issues that are affecting people like us. here are a few facts i found (or should i say... found me):

Facts About Burma

• Burma has the largest number of child soldiers in the world; nearly 70,000, some as young as 11 years old

• There are over 1,600 political prisoners, including 38 elected members of parliament and the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been under house arrest for 12 of the last 18 years

• Millions of Burmese have been pressed into what the International Labor Organization calls "a modern form of slavery".

• More persons died from landmines in Burma in 2002 than any other country in the world

• The Red Cross' operations in Burma have been shut down by the regime last year after the junta called them "terrorists." In return, the Red Cross issued its strongest public condemnation since Rwanda.

• Over 3,000 ethnic villages have been burned down in the eastern part of the country (twice as many as have been destroyed in Darfur)

• There are over 500,000 Internally Displaced People and another 1.5 million refugess living on the Thai-Burma border

• Last year, Burma spent less than 2% of its budget on healthcare and more than 50% of the GDP on the military

• 90% of Burma's population lives on less than a $1 a day

• In 1960, Burma had a 90% literacy rate and was the biggest rice exporter in the world; today 40% of children are malnourished and the education system is in shambles

• Burma was renamed "Myanmar" by the country's ruling military regime in 1989. The US and Britain do not recognize the new name; people inside the country still refer to themselves as Burmese

.... if this interested you in anyway, please also take some time to look into issues occuring with dark-skinned people in Darfur - it's inhumane.

thank you for your time, and if you can (because i know i can't), donate to these organizations!!

with love,

olivia

  • Hey you did great, lip synching or not. =)

I don't think that you were lip synching because a couple times you cut off just a tad early. But screw that you cut off a little early because you did GREAT! (and you proved that you weren't lip synching) I love your voice. =)

    Keep up the great work.
