The video you're watching is result of a program I've started doing, loong time ago (greetings to my friends from UMK).

Tech stuff:
Hann window function used http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window_function#Hann_window
window len: 1024
window shift: 128
fft len: 512

Phase diff is not calculated, so what you see is only amplitude (so it's a bit of a lie, but it makes it look soo much cooler ;p)

I've changed palette (from the typical "ironbow"), cause I wanted it to look even more cool, but actually results aren't that cool, so maybe I'll make another version (and in 480p)

BTW: I didn't know about it, but http://sox.sourceforge.net has spectrogram option

P.S. I like the moment around 1:30 when you can see hi-hat (cymbal) on one channel.
