ZiiLABS Releases Zii Optimized Android™ for Its Plaszma Development Platforms

Developers and OEMs Can Now Take Advantage of Optimized Android for ZiiLABS Plaszma Platforms, Including the Recently Announced Zii EGG

ZiiLABS, a pioneering media processor and platforms company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. today released its optimized implementation of Android for its Plaszma development platforms, including the recently announced Zii EGG handheld StemCell Computer and ZMS-05 System Module.


The Android release for Plaszma is based on the Android Open Source Project and takes full advantage of the flexible media processing capabilities of ZMS-05 media processing array. Seamless acceleration and extensions to the underlying Android framework enable developers and OEMs to run a wide range of standard Android applications without modification that benefit from the multi-format HD video, OpenGL ES acceleration and low-power consumption of the ZMS-05 media-rich applications processor.

The wide range of features supported on the Zii EGG enables developers and OEMs to take products to market quickly and efficiently that include multi-format HD video playback, HDTV output, accelerated OpenGL ES, capacitive touch screen, accelerated surface composting and audio, Wi-Fi, accelerometer and full-size SDHC card slot. The Android 1.6 release for the Zii EGG is available for immediate download to existing ZiiLABS developers.

would have been awesome if they had actually released it when this was still exciting

now its nothing special, with only the processor being anything to get excitable about but since they are not ever going to release it anyways who cares
