Even the Funeral industry is Feeling the Recession

CNN's Richard Roth reports on the high costs of dying in the midst of a recession.

The best way to protect yourself is to pre-plan a funeral. You can negotiate everything when you're not under the gun (and the stress of having just lost a loved one).

Just be sure that the money in the plan is held by a bank and not a private company and that it will earn interest. Also, some plans will let you either lock-in current rates or offer freebies if you agree to use the chapel instead of a graveside service.
