    This is coming from me as an Arsenal fan, so the answer to that question is that it probably is Hicks and Gillett's fault still, because Liverpool have never really recovered from the whole Hicks Gillett saga. They almost won the Premier League under Rafael Benitez and then even more shit began to fall from the sky after that - no club could ever succeed in those conditions. Given stability, I think Benitez would have won the league for them to be honest.
