PAKISTAN MOSQUE ATTACKS IN LAHORE- EYE WITNESS 28 MAY 2010 - Zain Khokhar

Detail of news are here - May 28, 2010 — Gunmen armed with grenades have attacked two mosques in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore and have reportedly taken hundreds of hostages

There was no immediate information on casualties.

Gunmen opened fire shortly after Friday prayers at two Ahmadi mosques in two residential neighbourhoods in Pakistan's cultural capital.

They then threw what were believed to be grenades.

Pakistani TV reports said there were 1,500 to 2,000 people at one of the mosques and they have been taken hostage.

Officers outside one of the mosques in the Garhi Shahu district of Lahore were engaged in a gunfight with the attackers.

Geo TV said Tehreik e Taliban, the Pakistan wing of the Taliban militant group, have said they are carrying out the attacks.

The mosques were several miles apart from each other, police officer Haider Ashraf said.
