My Little Black Donkey by Pádraic Ó Conaire as re-imagined by the pupils of Claddagh National School, Galway City, Ireland.
As part of Galway City Museum's "People's History of Galway" initiative the children of Claddagh National School were asked to re-imagine and retell Ó Conaire's much-celebrated, comic short story, M'Asal Beag Dubh (My Little Black Donkey).
The story tells of the author's first encounter with his long-time travelling companion -- a little black donkey -- which he purchased at a fair in Kinvara, a village on the southern shores of Galway Bay.
This is sweet and wonderful. I loved the story and the story tellers. Thank you.
