Taken in 2001 the biggest vessel to visit the Clyde was the BUNGA SAGA LIMA. She docked in the KGV and was carrying only a few thousand tons of animal feed. The tugs did a magnificent job.

  • I remember the Victoria harbour in Greenock stuffed full of the tugs in the early 80's I always remember the Flying Phantom & Flying Buzzard sitting there.

  • Wonder what the fleet (currently in JWD) will do when the JWD is 'redeveloped'?

  • you call that a big ship!,Knock Nevis is a big ship!

  • Sigh! Read the title - it is a record of the biggest vessel to call to that part of the river. Don't know why I bother sometimes...

  • RIP to big Stevie and the vrew of The Flying Phantom, who died when their tug ran aground and capsised. this was due to the pilot and captain of the ship they were helping not keeping in contact with them.... big Sumo was truely the best skipper on the Clyde by far RIP Stevie and crew

  • Big Stevie was a true gent, he is sadly missed. It's hard to believe it happened.

  • My friend, it's like the title says, "Biggest Ship On The Upper Clyde", not in the world, and besides, the Knock Nevis is in the Persian Gulf, not the Clyde River in Scotland.

I'm not implying that you are slow to comprehend, but read the video title before commenting next time.

  • know the name of this ship is Antwerp Max a have work on this vessel

  • do you now the name of the song???

  • tugs have a lot of power huh?

  • Whilst I'm sure everyone has their own ideas of what happened to the unfortunate Flying Phantom and her crew on that foggy night in Dec, it really isnt for us to aportion blame until we know exactly the outcome of the investigations currently being carried out. No good can come of naming and shaming until we are very sure we have all our facts straight. Keep it real people!

  • Ha!Wijsmuller, that are dutch tugs!

  • Awesome movie, thanks! Even the tugs are huge!
