People that trained Aikijujutsu back in the day were traditionally also training Ono Ha Ito Ryu Kenjitsu as a sword art. OHIR Kenjitsu has strict records of all students they ever. Sorry to burst your bubble but OSensei never practiced in any traditional school of sword, it was all second and third handed down information. Aikiken should not exist, This is why I train Aikido and MJER Iai

Gfan1987 - I was also taught the same method you were taught, but there are as many ways of cutting as there are teachers None are right or wrong... just different. This method is similar to what I've seen taught by Aikido Shihan, Kazuo Chiba-Sensei, who is considered, without question, to be a sword master.

I don't know, I was taught to make more of a casting motion with the sword. Because when you make a cut you would sort of make a slight pulling motion to draw it across the flesh and cut deeper then simply swinging it down like a broadsword. It's hard to tell, but also are you "wringing" (shibori) the tsuka as you do this?
Horrible. You're hacking with the ken. A sword is not an axe.

This is Aikiken. If you watch this through the eyes of a Kendoka you will not like it. The purpose here is to practice the transfer of energy from the hips to the ken.
